Introduction

Employment is a fact of life for most Americans. You will be an employee, an employer or both at some point in your lifetime. And as you might imagine, employment involves many laws for both the employee and the employer. In this chapter, we take a look at some of the larger issues in employment: recruitment and hiring; wages and hours; benefits; employee rights; time off; safety and security in the workplace; unions; and separation from employment.
